Moving

Yea so today I decided that I don't like moving. Especially when you are doing it yourself. I also have to say that I don't like my husband's job right now!!! I'm not usually a very negative person, but today I'm feeling pretty bummed about things. First of all I received a call from Scott right after he got into work saying that he is going to be working 12 hours the next two days. (This is because there is a new Costco opening in West Valley on Thursday.) Then we are supposed to start moving on Thursday, and Scott has to work all week!!!!! except Saturday! What is that about?
The other thing that I would like to gripe about at this time is CAN'T ANYBODY CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES AND TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR CLEANING JOB? I swear that I spent three hours earlier today cleaning at least 5 years worth of dust, and while doing that scraping paint off of my plastic base boards. Which are set up in a way that collects more dust at the corners of the walls. That was only my first bathroom. I still have another bathroom, and the kitchen to do. Yea:( It sure would be nice if people took pride in the way things looked around here. (meaning the University Student Apartments, not my family) Anyway sorry to burden you all with the negative feelings right now. I now will change my attitude now that I've gotten this off of my chest. Thanks for your patience.

Social Butterfly

So last night our resident council was doing movie on the lawn. As there was only one other guy and a little boy Adelle made good friends with them. She first approached the man and asked him his name he told her his name and then asked her her name, she replied "Adelle" and then put out her hand to shake and hands and said "nice to meet you." She loves people and is so polite.

So I know I've already posted today but Adelle said something so funny. Our air conditioning wasn't working very well this morning so we had a maintenance guy over to fix it. When he arrived Adelle asked him if he was a "fix-it guy" he replied that he was and then asked if Adelle was a "fix-it girl". Adelle quickly replied, "No I'm a princess!"

My Big Race!

So for those of you that are interested. I ran my first 10k on Tuesday. It was pretty exciting. I got up at 5:00 am and walked to Chipeta Way hung out for about 15 minutes and began to run. I ran the whole thing and even passed some people! The race wasn't too difficult as it was mostly downhill, but I threw out my neck and I'm still pretty sore. Anyway my final time was 1:05:09.1. I'm pretty proud of those numbers because the week before I had only run 5 miles in an hour and 15 minutes. When I got home Scott and the girls were still sleeping, so I took a shower and climbed back into bed with Scott just in time for him to get up with the girls so I could take a four hour nap:) So I feel like I did pretty well, and am proud of this accomplishment.

Has anyone ever felt so content in their life? I just want to give a shout out to all of our friends and family and say thanks!!! But most of all I want to thank my wonderful husband Scott, and my two girls all of whom are so wonderful to me. Most importantly my Heavenly Father who has always known what is best for my and now my family. I just have a lot to be grateful for right now.

For those of you that don't know Scott and I are in a position where we can move into a bigger place and I am so excited!!!!! Not that I am unhappy with my current apartment, I love it. I just think that the girls won't be as stir crazy sometimes if they have a small yard and bigger place to run around in. The other thing that I'm excited for is for the first time in almost five years of marriage I get to have my washer and dryer in the same place where I live!!! Anyway as I was cleaning my apartment tonight (something I do more often than I sometimes like) I was hanging up clothes and looking into my girls bedroom and thinking about when we moved in a year and four months ago. I was so stressed, but so happy!!!! I was so grateful to be outside the walls of our one bedroom condo, but also on edge not knowing if the condo would sell. I was expecting our Lilly Jane, and there was so much hope and happiness that I was finding in our new place. I had room, I had the most amazing view, Scott and I had our own space that we didn't have to share with Adelle. We had the hope of finding people in our same position that we could lean on for support. (Especially me because I am so needy) We have found all those things and are so grateful that we are able to move into a bigger place and not leave the wonderful surroundings that we are in.
The biggest reason I have loved living here is that I feel that it was the right thing to do for our family even though it would not have seemed right to everyone. We almost bought a house and our condo hadn't sold when we moved. The condo eventually sold, and that edgy feeling has gone away, and sometimes we regret not buying a house, but in the long run I know that this was the best decision for our family.
I am sad that we are going to have to leave this apartment in less than two weeks, but am so eager and excited for the new and exciting things that lay before us in our new home.

Candy!!!

I just have to say that I think candy is of the devil!!!! My girls are obsessed with it!!! Before Adelle's nap today she asked for three different forms of sugar: First was a popsicle which I quickly declined because the are so messy, not so much for Adelle, but for Lilly and what you must give to one you must give to the other. Second was Swedish fish that my husband brought home with him a few nights ago because his boss negotiated with him that he would stay and help if Scott bought them. Which I also declined being ten minutes to nap time. Third was a pudding snack that I had in the fridge mostly for Scott's lunches so he doesn't get bored with his turkey or peanut butter and honey sandwiches that I usually make him everyday, and you all know how important it is for him to be FULL!!!!!!!! (I attribute that to his mother who informed me that she loves to be very full, don't we all) Then Lilly when she sees anything that looks remotely like a candy wrapper the binky comes out and she reaches for it saying "umm, umm." It's hard though because when Adelle asks for candy she, nine times out of ten, asks in a very sweet loving manner, and I want to encourage it, but when it is something that I am going to regret later I struggle. You see as most children, when on a sugar-high, Adelle runs around like a crazy girl, but Adelle has more stamina that a lot of children. She will go for hours and hours and hours. It was a real struggle for a long time to get her to come away from the playground or swimming pool or playing with friends. When I say struggle I mean real struggle, screaming, crying, hitting, scratching, because she feels like she has not gotten all of her energy out. For example I was just telling one of my girl friends today that Adelle has only once fallen asleep while playing. The only way to get the child to sleep is to put her in her own bed and shut the door. (Though occasionally she will fall asleep in her car seat.) It doesn't matter how tired you know she is. Now that she is a bit older she's not as crazy, but when I give her candy or sugar I feel like we have reverted to our old ways. So that is why I think candy or sugar in general is of the devil!

Family Reunion

So Saturday we had two family reunions to go to. The first family reunion was for Scott's Grandpa's family. We met a few people we never met before, and got to know Grandpa Gar's family a little bit.

The next family reunion was for my dad's family. We ate and played and mostly socialized with family that we haven't seen in awhile. Adelle upheld her reputation of doing interesting things at family reunions. Last year she climbed into the drinking fountain at Sugarhouse park completely naked. Well this year she decided to use the bathroom in front of everyone.

Needless to say Adelle did have a great time playing with the cousins, and running around like a crazy girl. (Adelle's specialty) By the end of the day she was exhausted. (Which made me very happy.)
Lilly just wanted to play with the big kids. Someone brought a bean bag toss, and Lilly knew that she could do it just like the big kids so she decided to climb climb on the target to put the bean bag in the in the hole. Well climbing up the small incline was tough for the spirited little one, so mom helped her put the bean bag in the hole when one of the older kids asked her to move so they could finish their game.
We wanted to thank Ray and Jeanie for the fun time. We look forward to next year!!!

Funny Girl!!!

So yesterday at our weekly grocery shopping outing Adelle was being very good, and so I told her that she could get a treat. Well the child of course chooses a ring pop, (she loves suckers or gum) and we would be in a world of hurt if I did not get two, one for Adelle and one for Lilly. So I bought two. The only problem was that it was right at nap time so I told Adelle that she and Lilly could have their treats after their nap. Well Adelle is at the age when she doesn't nap everyday and yesterday was one of the days she did not want to nap, so I let her get up, mostly because she was keeping her sister from falling asleep. My mistake was when she asked for the ring pop I let her have it, rather than making her wait for her sister. So an hour and a half later Lilly wakes up ready for her ring pop, and I give it to her. Being the sweet girl that Lilly is she proceeds to share with Adelle. I tell Adelle that is enough, and go in the other room to talk to Scott. Two minutes later Scott and I hear a blood curdling scream. I walk into the front room and there is Adelle giving the ring pop back to Lilly, and Lilly has an ice cream sandwich on the tray of her highchair. (One that Adelle sneaked out of the freezer to trade with Lilly, the sandwich for the ring pop.) Adelle was trying to be good and share, but because of her sneakyness and disobedience spent three minutes in time-out. Moral of the story do what mom asks, and always get permission.

Celebration of our Independence!

Well here I go again. O.K. so I figured it out, yea me. Just wanted to tell you what Scott, the girls and I did for Independence Day. First we woke up early and I ran in the 5k race in Murray for the Murray fun days. I'm very proud of that race because I ran it in 35 minutes, which I thought was pretty good considering I started almost four minutes late. (I was in the bathroom.) After that Adelle spent the rest of the morning in the Murray Fun Days Parade with her Bocca (Grandpa) and Aunt Sarah for the Murray Costco Marketing Dept. She had a lot of fun throwing toilet paper to everyone! (Don't ask me why they threw T.P. this year?) After the parade we all went home and took a nap. The nap was fabulous and was needed badly at our house considering Scott and I were running on six hours of sleep and had a party to host.
At about 6:00 some of our friends and family showed up to eat, and watch the fireworks from the roof of our building. This is a fun new tradition we started last year. We had a blast this year and look forward to it again next year.
I hope all of you had a wonderful Independence Day and remembered our Fore-Fathers and their sacrifices. I also hope you remembered those who have fought for our freedom, and those who fight for it today. I know I am so grateful to live in this great country, and hope that we will be able to enjoy this freedom all of our days.
