Another year, another nomination for Mother of the Year Award!

Another year has been and gone, and I was not nominated for Mother of the Year in 2009, but 2010 is another year and for sure after this short story I will definitely make the list.

It was about 9:00 a.m. Monday morning. I had a rough night with a teething Gavin, and was lounging in bed, okay I was half asleep. Suddenly I hear the sweet music of laughter. Little girl giggles between two sisters that are just best of friends. As I lay in bed listening to that sweet music I realized that the beautiful sound I was hearing was not coming from downstairs, where I suspected the sound to be coming, but outside. I flew from my bed to my window to see the source of that beautiful music.

It was my daughters!!!! Outside squeeling with delight in the rain in their BATHING SUITS!!!!!! Its January people!

So VOTE FOR ME!!!

My little reader!

This morning Adelle brought me a piece of paper from school and said it was really important. I began to read the paper and it had her test results from some tests they took (unknown to me that they took these "important" tests).

I have to post the results because they are so awsome!

In initial sound Fluency the expected score is 25 Adelle got a 46!

In Letter naming fluency the expected score is 27 Adelle got a 28. (needs work)

In phoneme segmentation fluency the expected score is 18 Adelle got 48!!!

In nonsense word fluency the expected score is 13 and Adelle got a 33!!

So I just thought I would brag about my awesome reader!

Never Lost

In Sunbeams today Lilly's teacher was telling the children if they are ever lost they can say a prayer and Heavenly Father will help them find their way. To which Lilly responded...

"We don't get lost we have a GPS!"

Funny Girls

Here are a couple of funny stories about Lilly and Adelle.

On Saturday I was chaperoning a stake dance (I'm in Young Womens' now) and I was a little freaked out about going to Baltimore by myself. (Hey Baltimore is a scary place, and also a really big city...okay I overreacted.) Well my dear sweet husband said that he would drop me off at the dance and find something for the kids and him to do. (I wasn't wild about the idea, but I didn't want to get lost or carjacked.) So as a family we made the trip to Baltimore.

On the way the kids all fell asleep. I felt bad. I didn't know what Scott was going to do for three hours while I was chaperoning. He assured me he would be fine as he had brought his Sunday School lesson to prepare.

Apparently as soon as Scott dropped me off Lilly woke up. Scott then asked Lilly if she would like to go on a date and get a treat. To which a fast asleep (or so Scott thought) Adelle responded loudly "Yes!"

While running errands with my younger two Lilly says to me:

Lilly: Daddy has the Cheerio song on his IPod. (I'm then racking my brain Oh! Madonna Material Girl)

Then today while at Target they had these really cute Ballet slipper type shoes in white and in Adelle and Lilly's size. (You know me, obsessed with Matching.) I purchased the $9.99 shoes for spring Sunday shoes. As we were leaving the store I warned Lilly that I had bought the shoes, but they were for March, she then said "and for Daddy's Graduation" (which I have bought a new outfit for everyone to wear) Then as we got in the car she starts talking about Marching shoes. I disregard the strange comment because I have never heard her refer to any of her shoes as marching shoes. (Other names airplane shoes:crocs that I bought for the airplane, boots:rainboots, sparkley shoes...you get the point)

As we arrived home she requested the marching shoes. At this point I am quite perplexed as to what she means. I then ask her what Marching shoes are. She then replies: "The white ones with the bows" (You know the shoes I bought for the month of March)

Funny how she tied the two together, but I guess if I was a three year old Iwould too!

Have you ever...

had the perfect day? Today for me was the closest thing I have had in a long time to the perfect day, and it feels so good. It is now 10:12 p.m. I'm ready for bed, the laundry is folded, lunches are packed, tomorrow is ready to go and planned, teeth brushed and flossed, face washed, children sleeping soundly, everything in its place, and every item checked off on my to do list for today.

Aaaaah and it feels so good.

How would a perfect day go in the life of Kimbur, you ask? (Now I'm revealing how totally quirky I am.)

By 8:20 this morning I was ready for the day. Off to get Adelle ready for school and dropping the sweet girl off at 9:15. Return home where I proceed to clean my house. (not before jumping on my foam bed with Lilly who proceeded to help me make it after) Making beds, vacuuming, putting away clutter from rushing to get ready for church on Sunday, and doing the mountain of dishes that were left from the night before (a wonderful roast beef dinner with Leah and Erik).

After cleaning, lunch, and planning FHE with Lilly. Then off for a Lilly and Gavin nap, but first pictures of my clean house (for a later post), which has never happened since we moved in. Down with the kids, down with the laundry, (laundry room is in the basement) and just enough time to watch some Hulu and paint my fingernails (I KNOW) then off to get Adelle.

After picking up Adelle its time for mommy and kids. Helping with homework, reading, playing with toys. Then watch a little more Hulu, and Daddy walks in the door (so I got a little Hulu side track) but dinner got on the table just in time (Leftovers, don't want to waste food). FHE, hot chocolate, and girl off to bed. Finish cleaning dinner, pack lunches, fold laundry, and ready for bed.

See close to perfection with every detail in place. (Baby Monitor on and off at appropriate times, snack packed on eaten on the way home from school etc.) and each task (and then some) crossed off as it is accomplished. A day close to perfection(for me) is well rounded, house clean, kids played with, scriptures read, exercised, and some mom time it doesn't get better than that!

That is the perfect day (well close to) in the world of

It's a jungle out here...

were my thoughts when we moved out here, because of all the trees. Now I'm convinced that it is when my six year old is praying that she can "survive" at school.

Monkey Boy!

Upon moving to Maryland I was not prepared for how cold it gets here. With my girls I would just wrap them up in a blanket and call it good. Such is not the case for my poor Gavin boy. I swear the poor kid has been freezing ever since we got here. But not anymore.

Saturday we went to Burlington Coat factory on a mission. I showed Scott the general idea of what I wanted and put him to work. (While the girls and I looked at toys. Which is strangely one of my favorite places to shop) After about 20 minutes of contemplating we left the store with this...

and the boy now sweats! It's awesome! It is a monkey suit (often mistaken for a teddy bear, but it has a monkey tail in back) that is totally warm. The kid lives in it! Wears it inside (because of our leaky windows) and out (no more hauling around blankets), even sleeps in it! Yesterday while at the store two different people mistook him for a stuffed animal. I think we should all have one (especially if you live in Maryland).

Disney

There is something that most people don't know about me. I am a movie snob. I don't go to movies very often, granted I have three kids, but I am more of a board or card game person, or even just sitting around talking. (I know you all know that I LOVE to talk.) Which is really strange because growing up my family was the complete opposite. They all love movies. My Dad can tell you the story line of about any movie ever made!

I am especially disappointed with the Disney movies that have been made over past few years (Not Disney/Pixar have yet to see one of those I don't like. Although I had to watch Walle a few times before I liked it) Which is sad for a big Disney fan like myself (so I'm not a freak or anything, but you should see me at Disneyland). I remember as a kid getting so excited when Disney would come out with a new movie, and going to see it on the big screen and loving the music, the stories, and even have a small collection of the older Disneys. But something happened over the years, and all Disney seems to pump out were these "money making" movies slapping the Disney name on it and forgetting the magic that has been in Disney movies for so many years.

After many years and many lame Disney movies (many of which I did not waste my time watching, I know how could I know if it was lame if I haven't seen it. Trust me after seeing a many lame movies I can usually tell) I was very excited when I saw that Disney was doing the Princess and the Frog. (Finally going back to the Fairy tales) and after many years of disappointment Disney finally came through.

For New Year's Day my family went and say the movie and it was wonderful! The music, the story, the characters it was well DISNEY! THE MAGIC WAS BACK BABY!
